Deviation Actions
So today I was inspired by the music video to Mika's "Big Girls (You are Beautiful)" and I thought to myself, "Hot damn. You bet your ass we are!"
Today, with our society, big girls suffer a lot of negativity. We don't look like the accepted "norm" and a lot of us suffer internally for it. Constantly the battle continues to diet, lose weight, live by the scale to try and turn ourselves into something that we are not. We are beautiful, we are large, bountiful, and absolutely wonderful. It's something that a lot of us big beautiful women forget.
So I thought I would go ahead and remind the big beautiful women of deviant art that "Big Girls you are BEAUTIFUL!!" and I am not the only one that thinks so.
Let us have a warm round of applause for these next beautiful deviations concerning ladies that are large and in charge. Some of these you may have seen before, some of these you may not. They are all wonderful, I assure you.

One for the Fat Girls:thumb57702335:
Here's one for the fat girls
We fat graceful girls
No one notices the elegant rolls
Or the lovely folds
Here's one for the girls who eat
For the girls who never miss a meal
You'll never see us on a billboard
Or in a magazine
Here's one for the girls who have a great personality
Who cry when we shop
And don't get asked out
But are way more beautiful than you
Because we have to be

Inside Every Fat WomanAnd one day there was a mass breakout of thin women.
In shops, on street corners,
Yes it was hard work, but no pain no gain.
Skirts were shorter, tops were tighter,
Nights were longer, voices were louder,
Men were shallower, but more frequent.
Confident? Yes, but
What had they done with my fat friends?
These weren’t the same women.
They talked of my friends as jailers,
Jailers who were fat, and nothing else, keeping them at bay.
My friends were never smug,
They were never loud or abrasive,
They didn’t believe that looks were all and,
Most important, they never put me down.
A couple of months of rigid dieting will soon put you right.
You know what they say:
Inside every fat woman is a thin woman trying to get out.
Their most attractive features
(Their hearts, their souls, their loyalty) had gone, and yet
They were better liked, by some.
I can’t believe one of those skinny bitches is trying to get out of me.
I’m fat, and good, and kind, and si
Plus Size WomanI am a plus size woman.:thumb63300412:
I have curves that would make the autobaun quiver with XTC.
I have never worn a size small.
I have heard every fat joke in the book, written in the stars and thought up in a drinken binge.
I have cried at how they cut to my heart when though I laugh on the outside.
I am a plus size woman.
I have a naughty eyes that make men stop and stare.
I ache when its damp because my joints are worn from carrying around extra weight.
I take pain killers to forget my pain.
But not from my body.
I am a plus size woman.
I am sexy with out trying because I know how to move to music and flaunt the things other girls don't have.
Like breasts and hips.
I can admit that even though I am plus size and the world views me as 'lesser' person, I know my self worth is worth more then the oils sands in Alberta, the diamond mines in Africa and the gold in Donald Trumps jewellery box.
I am a plus size woman.
I know I am beautiful even if you don't.
Skinny girls aren't as much fun in bed as I
Plus Size MeWhy should I suck in my stomach for you?:thumb67508859:
No one has ever flat out requested that I pull it in
But that sweeping glance from head to feet
Bares all
Who says?
These magazines that stress that I should love myself
But continue the cookie cutter image that ruins the way we look at ourselves
I have a plus size mind
A plus size life
Voice
Laugh
Smile
But as soon as my body can't shop in the petite section anymore
I'm not worth it
So don't say to my face
That you wouldn't look at me with a bit less desire in your eyes
But what does your desire mean to me?
If today I pull in what makes me myself
Then maybe tomorrow I won't voice an opinion
So shamefully mine
Because it might offend you
You'll never be worth stifling me
I'm starting to think
That maybe I'm growing
Up
Crooked
Stunted
In our Societies sun
However radiant
In the eyes that look upon me
With unconditional love
Because society would rather I hide in the dark
If my face isn't painted on
And my width isn't small enough
I don't let you

Oh hey
So, I realized that I sort of slipped out of the volunteer position like a thief in the night with very little (ok, absolutely none) commentary. Sorry about that!
It became super difficult to keep up with my backload of notes (I had 500+!) as well as tying up my job before maternity leave, getting things set up for the baby and preparing ourselves for the move. It wasn't a realistic division of my time, so sadly, I had to step away yet again.
As many of you have noticed, I no longer feature Daily Deviations, so be sure to bring your suggestions over to the traditional art Community Volunteers; the most current list found at :devcommunityr
What a wonderful world...
Last night's critique night was a lot of fun, thanks to everyone that attended, presented and critiqued!
It was definitely an intimate session with no more than 20 at any given time, which was intimate, cozy and most of all super friendly.
If you haven't seen the awesomesauce articles posted by my cohorts SRaffa (https://www.deviantart.com/sraffa) and deshrubber (https://www.deviantart.com/deshrubber) this past week on projecteducate (https://www.deviantart.com/projecteducate) stop by and take a gander.
Thanks again everyone for a great time, and hopefully we'll do it again! :aww:
Come into the light...
